A Year at The Farm at Penny Lane is a photo project documenting the seasonally-changing beauty of this therapy farm in Chatham County, North Carolina where I have been volunteering every week for the past five years. For twelve months I color photographs with my 35mm Pentax K-1000 camera, beginning the first volunteer session in January 2023 and ending with the last one in December 2023. Since then I have been working with the hundreds of images, organizing them by season, and creating new layered images that evoke the sensual abundance I experience during my time on the farm. I am curating a set of images into a photobook, Four Seasons of Beauty, and showing prints of them as I am able at exhibits. The first set will be part of the Small Works exhibit at The Frank Gallery in Carrboro August 13 to September 21. I am also exploring the creation of a calendar that the farm can use for fund-raising.
